GENERAL INFORMATION

Location
RMIT Flight Training at Point Cook is 20 kilometres south west of central Melbourne or 25 minutes by car. Students can travel by train on the Werribee line to Laverton or Aircraft station (7 kilometres from Point Cook). RMIT can arrange transport to and from the station if required. Car parking is available at Point Cook.

Contact Hours
Trainees are required to attend five days per week and when necessary, due to adverse weather conditions, supplement this with weekend study. Some night flying is included in the program. 

Arrival Services
RMIT International offers a free arrival service for international students to be met at Melbourne International Airport and transferred to their accommodation in central Melbourne. Interstate students can be met by arrangement.

RMIT can assist students to find suitable hostel, homestay or share/rental accommodation.

Student Services
The school is equipped with a student lounge area, kitchen and recreational facilities. Learning facilities include computer, Internet and email access and a reference library. Counselling regarding program progress and/or issues is regularly provided.  

Employment
Due to program and study requirements, students often find it difficult to work part-time. International students who wish to work part-time in Australia must obtain a work rights visa after arrival.

Climate
Melbourne has four distinct seasons. Daytime temperatures range from 13 - 35 degrees Celsius. 

Living Costs
Total living costs (excluding program fees) for a single student can range from A$11,000 to A$14,000 per year depending on lifestyle and choice of accommodation.

Health Issues
All international students must purchase medical insurance called Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) which covers most medical expenses. RMIT has a student Health Service and a dentist.
